With lockdowns and fears of the COVID-19 pandemic, pediatricians’ offices in the US are recording decreased immunization visits. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Vaccine Safety Datalink show an almost 50 percent drop in children being vaccinated for measles during the first quarter of 2020, compared with the same period in 2019. Dr. Anita Shet of the International Vaccine Access Center at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health writes about how vaccinations are dropping globally due to the pandemic.
