Teaching Vaccine Economics Everywhere (TVEE) hosted a virtual Training of Trainers (TOT) in Health Economics Evaluation on July 19-23, 2021. The TOT was designed to equip teaching faculty in Francophone West Africa to deliver university-level training in economic evaluation for public health decision-making.
The TOT was organized by Johns Hopkins University and Institute Supérieur des Sciences de la Population (ISSP) of Joseph Ki-Zerbo University of Ouagadougou. During the TOT, participants reviewed the health economics evaluation curriculum designed by health economists for the TVEE project. Topics covered included an overview of the concept of value in public health, economic evaluation methods (e.g., cost-effectiveness analyses and practical considerations when conducting economic evaluations.) Participants also discussed adapting the curriculum to public health issues covered in their courses and meeting their students’ needs and interests.
TVEE will hold a second TOT in partnership with the University of Kinshasa School of Public Health in November 2021. If you are interested in participating or would like more information, please contact Sally Safi at
