GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, is a public-private partnership committed to saving children’s lives and protecting people’s health by increasing equitable use of vaccines in lower-income countries. In December 2020, the Gavi Board approved a new approach to Middle-Income Countries (MICs) for preventing and mitigating backsliding in vaccine coverage in former Gavi-eligible countries and drive the sustainable introductions of key missing vaccines in former- and select never-Gavi-eligible middle-income countries.
The SPM will bring knowledge of immunization and development issues, support, and be proactive in identifying and addressing sustainability issues of Gavi’s prior investments in MICs’ immunization systems through close monitoring and effective communication, facilitation, and coordination with countries and partners.
