GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, is a public-private partnership committed to saving children’s lives and protecting people’s health by increasing equitable use of vaccines in lower-income countries. An opportunity has opened up at Gavi for a Senior Manager, Policy. The deadline for applying is 7th February 2022.
One of the core functions of the Gavi Secretariat Policy team is to identify vaccines of most importance to Gavi-supported countries and with greatest need for financial support, and evaluate them for potential investment and inclusion in Gavi’s portfolio. This assessment considers factors including impact, cost, value for money, programmatic feasibility, fit with Gavi, and trade-offs and synergies with existing investments. The Policy team works in close collaboration with Alliance partners and technical experts to define the vaccination strategy, perform the assessment and identify the appropriate support model. In some cases, evaluation and decision frameworks must be adapted or created. Opportunities that may be assessed in the future span both vaccines for endemic disease prevention (e.g., malaria) as well as vaccines for epidemic preparedness and response (e.g., pandemic influenza, ebola, zika, chikungunya).
The responsibilities of the role include leading policy development and/or policy review processes to prepare recommendations for the Gavi Board and facilitating transition from policy to implementation.
