The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) has released a new position paper on how adult immunization is a critical investment for health, equity, and economic resilience.

As populations age and non-communicable diseases increase, our societies are becoming more vulnerable to preventable infectious diseases which can put a significant strain on health systems, societies, and economies.

Vaccines are widely recognized as safe and effective tools against infectious diseases. This is true across the life course. For instance, adult immunization, including the elderly and those living with non-communicable diseases, brings immediate and long-term benefits. These benefits extend to wider health systems, societies, and economies.

This two page document from IPFMA expands on what action is needed to harness the opportunity of adult immunization – from elevating immunization as a public health priority to empowering healthcare professionals for greater access and uptake.
