PATH has released a new Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine Cost Calculator designed to support middle-income countries in assessing the financial implications of different HPV vaccine product choices. The tool enables users to estimate vaccination programme costs and cold chain volume requirements while comparing multiple HPV vaccine options. It is intended to inform national planning, budgeting, and product selection decisions.
This Excel-based calculator allows users to analyse up to four HPV vaccine products at the same time. It generates estimates for vaccine procurement costs (including vaccine and supplies) as well as overall vaccination programme costs (including delivery), with outputs available on an annual basis and over a five-year period. The tool is supported by a detailed user guide and a tutorial video, with subtitles available in English, French, and Spanish.
How can the findings be used?
This HPV Vaccine Cost Calculator can be used by ministries of health, finance officials, national immunization technical advisory groups (NITAGs), and technical partners to generate rapid, cost estimates for different HPV vaccine product options, supporting evidence-based budgeting, programme cost planning, and product selection decisions in middle-income country contexts.
