Sriudomporn et al. (2023) estimated the immunization program costs, financing, and funding gaps for 16 vaccines in 94 low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). They utilized data spanning almost two decades from a multitude of sources including the 2020 Decade of Vaccine Economics costing analysis, Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, Gavi, WHO, and UNICEF. They found a US$38.4 billion funding gap for the years 2011-2030, with immunization delivery cost accounting for 86% of this gap. The paper puts into spotlight the resource mobilization efforts required to bridge this gap and meet the need.
