A new blog post from the Center for Global Development lists complete childhood immunization* as one of the top 10 most cost-effectiveness nutrition interventions, with an incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) of US$195 per life year (disability adjusted, US$ 2012). The ICER per disability-adjusted life year for different vaccine combinations and in different settings can be found below:

  • 13 – BCG, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, measles and polio vaccines in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • 26 – BCG, DPT, measles and polio vaccines in Europe and Central Asia
  • 378 – BCG, DPT, Hep B and Hib B
  • 103 – Rotavirus and pneumococcus
